CJay passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at an undisclosed hospital in the Badore area of Lagos.
The actor’s death was announced by Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing, who recently cast him as the lead actor in her new film.
In a video shared on her Instagram page, a visibly emotional Nkechi said the film would no longer be released as scheduled following CJay’s death.
“It took me a lot to do this video because we won’t be dropping the movie again by 5pm. Right now, I’m in the hospital in Badore. I just lost CJay. CJay is dead. I don’t even know where to start,” she said.
Nkechi’s announcement came as she mourned the actor and explained the decision to cancel the planned release of the movie.
CJay had recently been cast as the lead actor in the project, making his sudden death a major setback for the production.
The cause of his death was unknown.
